River's Reach - visitors' book

We would appreciate it if you would write a few words about your stay (including any useful comments or suggestions)

which would be helpful for us and potential guests

  • My family have been visiting Rivers Reach 2 or 3 times a year since the pandemic. The environmental is idyllic, tranquil and restorative. The barn is well appointed and there are plenty of indoor and outdoor activities to enjoy. We particularly enjoy the surrounds of the barn; canoeing, shepherding, walks, bike rides and more. The Tamar Valley has plenty to offer. Tavistock has everything you would need to enjoy a stay at Rivers Reach. Thank you, Penny, for your caring and warm hospitality!!

  • We have just returned from a wonderful week at Rivers Reach. Penny is the perfect host and really cares about your holiday, and if you need anything she is there for you. The location is superb; it feels remote and tranquil but is within easy reach of Plymouth and other activities (we did coasteering with Rock Solid Coasteering and had a couple of good days at Bigbury-on-Sea). The main area of the house is an airy and very relaxing place to be and the games room (with comfy sofas) was great for us to hang out with teenage children. Access to the river is on the doorstep, and there are beautiful walks from the house (some on Penny's private fenced land which was great for our dog to run free). There is a private terrace and outdoor garden area for BBQing (we had rain so can only imagine how lovely they would be in the sunshine!). We would love to go back for more river play and longer trail walks and relaxation. Quite a special place :)

  • We've been at Rivers Reach for one week during August 2022. It was the last week of our trip through Cornwall and it was wonderful. Penny, the host, gave us a very warm welcome and showed us everything.
The accommodation is fantastic. The view is stunning. And the peace and quiet there is very pleasant. We felt very very comfortable there and can strongly recommend this place.
Thanks Penny for such a fantastic week ;-)

  • I was staying at this amazing and wonderful country barn house at Rivers Reach for 3 days. I must say it was one of my best experiences—most welcoming and friendly atmosphere from the lovely landlady, cosy and home feeling, rural but tranquil, thoroughly happy inside and outside. Shall definitely come back.

  • If you're looking to connect with nature you really would want to consider "River's Reach".
I found the energy positive and uplifting. The accommodation, simple, spacious, clean and relaxing.
Plenty of room for everyone to share space with each other or find a quiet spot to contemplate life on your own.
The host, Penny was informative and friendly, genuinely concerned that you have everything you need.

    An incredibly peaceful environment."

  • I have stayed in Rivers Reach several times before and loved it every time. If you want a relaxing escape from everyday life then I know of no better place. Although there's lots to do in Devon I actually like just staying at the property some days. You have beautiful scenery right on your doorstep.

Penny (the host) really makes you feel welcome and is a pleasure to talk to. I look forward to coming to stay again soon!

  • The barn is a highly comfortable and unique place to stay in a beautiful setting.

The spacious lounge opens onto a roof terrace with table and chairs and gorgeous views all around.

The shower in the wet room is amazing!

The Tamar was wonderful for swims, cooling dips and paddle boarding . There is also a lovely walk/run to Calstock.

We stayed on site for most of our visit, had a lovely time and look forward to returning.

There’s a games room and lawn at ground level,
and the massive lounge leads out onto a dining balcony upstairs.

  • This very well appointed modern barn conversion is set in a wonderful location.
Go for a retreat, or for boating on the river or for exploring the Tamar Valley AONB.
The nearby old towns of Tavistock and Launceston still have interesting high streets.
I have been many times and look forward to going again.

  • I have visited this very special place five times now, it has always been a memorable stay. An ideal location for families and groups to base themselves, ideal for Dartmoor, exploring the Tamar river and of course nearby Plymouth and Tavistock. I fully intend to be back again before long.
